“I spent my life folded between the pages of books.In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction.”

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
Summary from: goodreads.com

Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

"Why?" Isabelle said.

"So you can look up 'fun.' I'm not sure you know what it means."

The Hunger Games: The Game

Ok so while I was away....I happened to learn (and play) a really extremely epic game......called........THE HUNGER GAMES! Yes! So I have the official rules and stuff....It was SO FUN!

The Hunger Games (The Game)

Materials needed:
- pool noodles

- dodge balls

- finger blasters (if you don't know what that is, here is a picture)  --------------------------------------------->

- woods (or a field...but it's way more fun in the woods)

- at LEAST 5-10 people (if you really wanted to do it right you would have 24) but you can have as many people as you want really.

How to play:

- Each person takes two (ONLY TWO AT A TIME) weapons of their choice (finger blaster, pool noodle, or dodgeball)

- you count down....(like from ten...)

- everyone takes off into the woods

- you fight.....if you are hit with a weapon then you are"killed"

- you can only have two weapons at a time. So if you use one you can grab another if there is one around you but no more than two at a time

- last person standing wins. (you can also play on teams. In this case than you play team with the most kills wins)

- HAVE FUN.

This is the best game EVER! Hope you guys enjoy. (wish I had pictures but I don't...sorry)

No...?

Maybe these drawings help:

I don't know....but they do have a few things in common:

highlight between the brackets to view spoiler

{ Flynn's realy name is Eugene Fitzherbert and Jace Wayland's real name is Jonathan Morgenstern...... }

well....kind of.

Random Question Monday: Asked out by a character

HEY! This is Kait and it's MONDAY!!! (I'm back from camp and ready to keep blogging!) Here's our question for today!

Random Question Monday is a weekly meme hosted by us here at 2 B Read. It is where you guys send in random questions and we answer. Subit your random questions here.

Anonymous (via Random Question Monday Tab) asked:

If you could have any character from a book ask you out who would it be and why?

.........................................................................................................................................
Kait

Nice question!! (please note that we are going to try taking more 'RANDOM' questions for this meme from now on....not neccisarily pertaining to a book....because that is what Tidbit Thursday's about. So please try to keep the questions RANDOM! Thanks!)

I would have REN from Nightshade by Andrea Cremer LINCOLN from Embrace by Jessica Shirvington JACE from City of Bones by Cassandra Clare ADAM from Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi HENRY from The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter CHASE from Raised By Wolves (oh my I can't decide.......any of these guys are WOAHHHHHHHHHH but The last three not crossed out.....well I just can't choose....Crossing them out would feel like cheating on them! Not cool........)

So there you have it...... A greek god.....a soldier......and a werewolf.....HEEHEEE.

HBU?

.......................................................................................................................................
Mari

Jack Caputo from Everneath!! Henry from Goddess Test!! Jace from City of Bones!!  Chase from Raised by Wolves!!  Ren from Nightshade!!! SOOOO MANY!!
Jack: Football player, super hot yet sweet.
Henry: Mysterious, hot, sweet.
Jace: Hot, super ego, funny, sarcastic.
Chase: Mysterious, sweet yet serious.
Ren: Funny, hot, super fun!

Hottest Hades

Hey hey this is Mari!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I know lots of books that have Hades or some kind of representation of Hades in a strange sort of way that's still beautiful(Cole- Everneath) or Literally Hades (Hades-Lightening Theif) or portrayed as a teenager (Henry-Goddess Test)

1ST PLACE- Henry!!
He's so amazing and he drives me crazy some times but he is so sweet so I choose Henry for first place!

2ND PLACE- Cole!!!!!
Only because he saved Nikki's brother once but I DONT LIKE COLE!!!!

3D PLACE- Hades!!!
He's old so he gets last and frankly he's kinda creepy!

THE HUNGER GAMES DISCUSSION SATURDAYS: Finnick in Mockingjay

So now its The Hunger Games Discussion Saturdays! This is a meme about discussing The Hunger Games different topics every week. Hosted by us, here at 2 B Read.

** I advise you that from now on are all EXTREME spoilers. Please stop reading if you have not read Mockingjay (the third book in The Hunger Games Trilogy)**

This weeks discussion question:

 Was Finnick's death really necessary?

.....................................................................................................................................
Kait

Now this is hard to say.......yes, I do think his death was necessary. I do because as of that time in the book, they hadn't lost anyone that you had known (and come to care about immensely). The book was coming to a big part of the story development......attacking the Capitol....and it was tense and fast paced and.......something terrible needed to happen. They had been still (sleeping/resting) for too long and now was the time for tragedy....the perfect opportunity for Finnick to die. Katniss gave him the best gift she could at that point, which was immediate death. She couldn't save him but she could end his suffering.

Now while being a selfish reader, I would say, "NOOOO! FINNICK DIDN'T DESERVE TO DIE! I HATE SUZANNE FOR EVEN THINKING IT UP! FINNICK'S DEATH WAS IN NO WAY NECESSARY! IT WAS JUST ANOTHER THING THAT SUZANNE WROTE TO MAKE THE BOOK HORRIBLE! IT HAD NO PURPOSE!!"

but that would be my angry reader side.....but the person who wrote the first paragraph and is above all entirely right, is my writer self....the one who understands a stories necessity and underlying development. And even though I didn't enjoy Finnick's death (in fact it was accompanied by  gasping, sobbing, and book chucking) I understand why it was there and I don't hate Suzanne for it, because it was a smart move.
(it keeps the reader alert.......no chance I was about to get bored reading that book.)

.................................................................................................................................
Mari
Ugh you all know I love Finnick- me and him had like this whole love at first read thing that RARELY EVER happens but you know I see why it had to happen- I didn't WANT it to happen but for those of you who don't understand that books have to have tragedy here it is written out:
Book= Fun happiness excitement love; sadness bookchucking crying; Laughing
It's all a perfect cycle: Happiness gets the reader to like the book, but the reader isn't gonna keep reading if the book is just boring. Just like a reader is going to stop reading if the book is CONSTANT TRAGEDY! Also, a book can't consist of JUST humor. And of course if a book has none of these elements it becomes what we here call a:
Buttish Book
And no book should ever have to be A Buttish Book! Please Comment!

TIDBIT THURSDAY: Date a Vampire or Werewolf?

Hey hey! Tidbit Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by us here ate 2 B Read. We share our opinions (or experiences) and you tell us yours. Leave your Tidbit in the comments!

This was a question sent in for Random Question Monday but this seems more fit for Tidbit Thursday

Haley Nak asked (through the comments on the Random Question Monday page) :

Would you rather date a vampire, or a werewolf?

.....................................................................................................................................
Kait

well Haley, that is a very intriguing question....but not too hard, considering how in love I am with Werewolves! We have done so many posts on that:

And I've read so many books that make Werewolves so yummy! (as Mari would say) :

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
Raised By Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan (see the "Why are Werewolves are so amazing?" post)
ETC.

Also I do love Vampires.....(TWILIGHT!!!!) but right now I am reading City of Bones...which makes vampires look really unappealing.....and Werewolves ten times more....so, I'm going to have to go with Werewolf on this one because....well.....*heart melts like butter in a hot pan* I love them!!!!!!!

..................................................................................................................................
Mari
Werewolves. Yes, yummy(thanks for the quote Kait!)
They are sooo awesome and- just read Nightshade and Raised by Wolves- this is unusual because I have a huge mouth but I am at loss of words to say why Werewolves are so amazing!

WAITING ON WEDNESDAY: Crewel by Gennifer Albin

Waiting on Wednesday's is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Crewel (Crewel World, #1)Crewel by Gennifer Albin
Summary from goodreads.com
Expected Publication: October 16th, 2012
Incapable. Awkward. Artless.
That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.
Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.
Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.
Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.
Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.
...........................................................................................................................................
I'm really excited about this one! I just had the urge to go get it NOW which is a good sign....it sounds really gripping and just over all 6 stars!!
TEASER TUESDAY: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
It's Teaser Tuesday!! YAY!! WOOOOOO!! HUZZAH!!!!!!!
Teaser Tuesday's is a weekly meme hosted by Miz B of Should Be Reading and asks you to :
1. Grab your current read
2. Open to a random page
3 . Share 2 "teaser" sentences also citing the title of the book and the author and in that way people can have great recommendations if they like the "teaser".
4. Please avoid spoilers!
Hey guys I know that we already did City of Bones but these are really awesome quotes that couldn't NOT be shared so here ya are!
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Summary from goodreads.com
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.
.........................................................................................................................................
Ugh...sorry to say again that I have more than one quote for you....when I get going looking at quotes, I just can't stop. Here are some samples of the awesome humor Cassandra has in her book:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 "Is this the part where you start tearing off strips of your shirt to bind my wounds?"
"If you wanted me to rip my clothes off, you should have just asked."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Can I help you with something?"
Clary turned instant traitor against her gender. "Those girls on the other side of the car are staring at you."
Jace assumed an air of mellow gratification. "Of course they are," he said, "I am stunningly attractive."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 "Don't order any of the faerie food," said Jace, looking at her over the top of his menu. "It tends to make humans a little crazy. One minute you're munching a faerie plum, the next minute you're running naked down Madison Avenue with antlers on your head. Not," he added hastily, "that this has ever happened to me."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Don't touch any of my weapons without my permission."
"Well, there goes my plan for selling them all on eBay," Clary muttered.
"Selling them on what?"
Clary smiled blandly at him. "A mythical place of great magical power."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"If you were half as funny as you think you are, you'd be twice as funny as you are now."
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RADNOM QUESTION MONDAY: Calibri or Times New Roman
HELLO! This is Kait and it's MONDAY!!! Here's our question for today!
Random Question Monday is a weekly meme hosted by us here at 2 B Read. It is where you guys send in random questions and we answer. Subit your random questions here.
Anonymous asked (through Tubmlr) :
Would you rather write in Calibri or Times New Roman?
                   VS
......................................................................................................................................
Kait
CALIBRI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How excited was I when I finally got the newsest version of Microsoft word and I found out: THE DEFAULT FONT IS NO LONGER TIMES NEW ROMAN!? The answer is: SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCTIED!
I really strongly dislike Times New Roman....it makes me nausious somehow.... Calibri is so pretty to look at and it's clear to read.
When I looked up the question some more I was appauled to see this:
PEOPLE LIKE TIMES NEW ROMAN BETTER??!?!?!?!!!
woah.............
What do you think?
..................................................................................................................................
Mari
Calibri definitely, it's so modern in a kindof like WOW in your face type thing that I really love! Times New Roman is so annoying it's like plain and has no personality... I can't believe that Calibri lost the poll!
THE HUNGER GAMES DISCUSSION SATURDAYS: Did Mockingjay Suck?
Hey hey it's Hunger Games Discussion Saturday's! (well it's a tad early because I am going away tomorrow and won't be able to fit it in but here it is)
'What is that?' you ask? Well here my friend is the definition: Discussing different The Hunger Games topics every week. Hosted by us, here at 2 B Read. Leave your answer in the comments! (or a link to your own Hunger Games Discussion Saturday)
This weeks discussion topic (asked by many people around the world) is:
Is it just me, or did Mockingjay kinda suck?
........................................................................................................................................
Kait
Yes....it is just you. Mockingjay did not suck. In fact it was written rather beautifully and is captivating-ly terrible. But if what you meant by 'suck' was 'terribly, uncontrollably, rip-my-heart-out-why-don't-you-Suzanne, sad'  than....I see your point. But I believe everything in Mockingjay was totally 100% necessary. Even minor deaths had great impacts on Katniss and they were important individually.
 You may say, "Well everything just went so wrong all at once and I couldn't tolerate it." That's because it was supposed to be that way. What Mockingjay was, was War. Cold, hard war with many casualties. Snow was no longer trying to put up a wall around Katniss's uprising. It was so out of control that there was no way he could keep it down and in result, Mockingjay was born. You weren't going to get the ending handed to you neatly...it was messy, and it always was going to be because if you truly know the world of Panem then you would understand that it's humanity at it's worst and there is no easy way to end a trilogy/novel of that proportion with a painless ending. It would go against the grain.
That's why I respect everything in Mockingjay....and even though some of it made me tear my hair out, I loved every minute of it and wouldn't change a thing.
Here is a spoiler reason as well. Highlight between the brackets to read.
{ basically why I think people don't like it also is because there was an unfair surprise around every corner—literally non-stop—and Katniss hardly experienced any joy anymore....it's hard to when you've lost everything you love. }
.......................................................................................................................................
Mari
Like Kait said, it's just you, because Suzzanne Collins has a great writing style she kept consistent so that's not what could possibly be wrong.  Second, there was action-- so don't go saying it was boring. And you really got to see Katniss mature completely, she is no longer the little girl that used to go hunting with her father and not understand the meaning of the song about the guy that got hung! SHE'S NOT THAT KATNISS ANYMORE! She is strong. She is a mockingjay, and everything that happened NEEDED to happen because, face it, the whole idea for the triology is based on something horrible- teens killing teens for pleasure- not pleasant. So, how could anyone expect a happy, puppy dogs and rainbows ending with such a hard-core and intense idea.  I feel that if you didn't like it, it's probably because you weren't ready for the series try again later.
..............................................................................................................................................
Kait
Hmmmm...hard question....both? Maybe a Soul because they stand for a great cause...no violence...stuff like that...they are perfect, but at the same time I wouldn't want to take another persons life (or have mind be taken) so I'm torn...plus well I kind of love the Humans in this book...they are so lovable!!
.............................................................................................................................................
Mari
HUMAN REVOLUTION! ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!! Sorry, but the humans are just soooo....
AHH I LOVE THEM! I would love to fall in love with one of them and it seems like it's not fun to be a soul because they do the SAME THING EVERYDAY! But they are pretty awesome!
TIDBIT THURSDAY: Do you read the last line first?
Hey hey!
Today is THURSDAY!!! and do you know what that means?? It's TIDBIT THURSDAY!!!!!
Tidbit Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by us here at 2 B Read where we tell you all about our fav's (music/books/books into movies) and you tell us yours. Leave your Tidbit in the comments below!
This weeks topic is:
Do you read the last line of a book first?
...........................................................................................................................................
Kait
Well the truth is...I do. But not first. I normally am a good 100 + pages in before I do...but I can hardly ever resist the temptation (only if the book is making me super emotional and I am freaked out that "so and so" is going to die/leave/break their heart/etc. Then I will look)
My reaction varies in books.
Sometimes it gives me an edge...I know the last line of the book and I can see something coming. I've got my headlights on and I'm not driving blind. It eases the anxiety of the event and most times I'm greatful for it. It really helps cool my nerves. There are times I'm reading a book and I just sit up and cry. When I do that, I know it's time to read the last line.
Other times the last line of the book hurts me more...than if I hadn't read it. Makes me MORE anxious. (more often than not this does not happen...but there has been the occasion.)
HBU?
..............................................................................................................................................
Mari
OK This is what I wish I could say:
WHA? Are you insane a person with a passion for reading would NEVER do that!
This is what I'm going to say:
yes........................................................
because I think it just adds to the thirst I have to finish the book because I want to know sooo bad what that MEANS! So, yeah tell us what you think!
Like so: "thing-y" (have you guys heard that radio commercial?) any word that you tack a "y" onto at the end where it shouldn't belong is a real word if you put a hyphen. So we talk like that a lot. When people say "thats not a real word!" (which is sadly not many people because these days people don't care at all about gramar!!) We reply "It is if you hyphenate it!!"
7. Picking a favorite book is too hard....we all agree....
8. For some reason...the songs Kait listens to on Spotify (over and OVER again) start playing frequently on the radio after a month....and then become popular after Kait had already discovered them....so it makes her look bad (like she's trying to fit in....) Mari has the same problem.
9. Kait thinks she should be talking about something other than books, music, or writing for the facts because it's becoming repetetive.
10. Kait's nails are currently blue/green
11. We might start excepting ARCs soon...(like tomorrow or something) so we are all super excited to possibly start recieving those.....
Thanks for the awards guys!
(we are not going to tag people because this is the 3rd award and we have already given it to almost everyone)
Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Summary from goodreads.com
Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.
"I only know now that the scientists are wrong.
The world is flat.
I know because I was tossed right off the edge and I've been trying to hold on for 17 years. I've been trying to climb back up for 17 years but it's nearly impossible to beat gravity when no one is willing to give you a hand.
"
"I always wonder about raindrops.
I wonder about how they're always falling down, tripping over their own feet, breaking their legs and forgetting their parachutes as they tumble right out of the sky toward an uncertain end. It's like someone is emptying their pockets over the earth and doesn't seem to care where the contents fall, doesn't seem to care that the raindrops burst when they hit the ground, that they shatter when they fall to the floor, that people curse the days the drops dare to tap on their doors.
I am a raindrop.
My parents emptied their pockets of me and left me to evaporate on a concrete slab."
"You can't touch me," I whisper. I'm lying, is what I don't tell him. He can touch me, is what I'll never tell him. Please touch me, is what I want to tell him."
"I've been screaming for years and no one has ever heard me."
"My voice softens. 'How old are you?'
'I'll be eleven next year.'
I grin. 'So you're ten years old?'
He crosses his arms. Frowns. 'I'll be twelve in two years.'
I think I already love this kid."
Random Question Monday
HELLO! This is Kait and it's MONDAY YAY! Here's our question for today!
Random Question Monday is a weekly meme hosted by us here at 2 B Read. It is where you guys send in random questions and we answer. Subit your random questions here.
Anonymous asked (through Tumblr) :
reading or blogging? I know thats a really mean question but which do you honestly prefer?
............................................................................................................................................
Kait
hmmm well good question...but to be honest those are two very different things. There is not one that I prefer over the other. Reading is the passion I talk about while blogging....I get to deepen the passion and share it with others. I guess if I were to take it to the root, reading would be what I choose because without reading (for me) there is no blogging.
...........................................................................................................................................
Mari
Not mean-just difficult : ) So, I can't choose I just use Blogging to spread my joy of books and stuff but I have to choose what came first: Reading because blogging-just blogging in general is OK when you blog ABOUT READING it's all WOAH!! It's a whole new thing so---- One or the other gotta be reading.
Rach
Hmmm thts a hard, but really good question. To be honest, I kinda like blogging better (plz dont kill me mari and kait). Here's my reason for tht answer. When you're reading a book, you're lookin at someone elses work and sometimes I get the feeling "wow, I wish I had written that. But, when you're blogging, most of the things you write are in your own words and you get they chance to express yourself. For example, we did a post a while back where we wrote a short passage describing a reaping experience. When I was finished, I felt really proud of what I had written and tht it was all my words. (you can fin that post here )
